Transfer Path Analysis & Noise and Vibration Diagnostics
Jianmin Guan- Senior Program Manager-Noise, Vibration & Harshness
Introduction
Noise and vibration are important characteristics in modern life. For example, we experience noise and vibration every day when we drive to work, and they are important causes for component failures in airplanes and space vehicles. Therefore, it is important for us to understand how noise and vibration are transmitted and to find ways to reduce them.
Traditionally, noise and vibration problems are analyzed using the Modal Analysis approach. Vibration modes (or normal modes) are intrinsic ways a structure can sustain motion and carry energy. Each mode is typically associated with a Read the rest of this entry »

Superior Industries Accelerates its Design Process With HyperWorks
Superior Industries made its first stylish mark on America’s roads with the debut of its cast aluminum wheels on the Ford Mustang II in 1974. With a roar heard throughout the auto industry, Superior’s design excellence set the standard for classy aluminum wheels, and the popularity of the company’s products accelerated rapidly. Today, Superior is one of the largest OEM suppliers of cast aluminum road wheels.
One of Superior’s main challenge was to shorten the overall product design cycle. They attacked this problem by applying the customization and automation capabilities of HyperWorks to many of its CAE processes.

Moldex3D by CoreTech – HyperWorks Partner Alliance Spotlight
Eliminating Part Warpage in Electronic Connectors through Molding Simulation
A major issue in the production of electronic connectors is part warpage.
This can be caused by unbalanced mold filling due to poor wall thickness design, which further leads to non-uniform shrinkage. These problems can be identified and virtually prototyped with Moldex3D simulations, establishing proper part thickness to balance the filling pattern and hence reduce the part warpage by 20%.
Moldex3D improves company competitiveness in the electronics industry. Moldex3D is a suite of advanced injection molding simulation solutions for plastic part verification and mold optimization. It has been widely applied to solve common manufacturing difficulties, such as short shot, air trap, welding line, burn marks, etc. Furthermore, through the improvement in product quality and cycle time, users can create higher value at lower costs in the product development process.
